Zoho Zia: What AI in Zoho Can and Cannot Do
AI is often sold as the answer to everything. In Zoho, the AI is called Zia and is already built into many apps. The question is not "is there AI", but "for which job, and with what data".
What Zia is
Zia is Zoho's built-in artificial intelligence. It works inside the Zoho apps you already use, not as a separate product, and what it does differs from app to app.
Examples of functions that are usually useful
- Summarising notes and conversations so salespeople do not need to read a long history.
- Scoring or predicting leads and deals based on patterns in your own data.
- Flagging anomalies, such as sales figures that deviate from the norm.
- Answering questions about your data in everyday language.
- Carrying out specific tasks through AI agents configured for your process.
The list of features and the editions that include them changes over time. Check Zoho's latest documentation and the plan you use before you plan around them.
AI is only as good as its data
Predictions from empty or inconsistent data look convincing but are wrong. A lead score is useless if stages and lead sources are filled in carelessly. So the healthy order is: clear process, clean data, then AI. See the implementation readiness checklist.
What not to expect
- AI does not fix a broken process.
- AI does not replace decisions that need business context.
- Language support differs by feature; test with your own Indonesian-language data before relying on it.
- AI output needs human checking, especially when it concerns customers or financial figures.
Customer data and compliance
If AI processes customers' personal data, consider your obligations under Indonesia's Personal Data Protection Law (Law No. 27 of 2022). Also ask where data is processed and what is configured in your account. For legal matters, speak to your legal adviser.
How to start sensibly
Pick one repetitive, measurable job, such as summarising notes or flagging at-risk deals. Switch it on, measure for a month, then decide. Do not enable everything at once.
